2017 CPEA Results
One thousand nine hundred and seventeen (1,917) students were registered for the Assessment. This included one thousand and thirty-nine (1,039) males and eight hundred and seventy-eight (878) females. However, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen students wrote the external component of the assessment; one thousand and thirty-seven (1037) were males and eight hundred and seventy-six (876) were females. One less males wrote the internal component of the examination. One thousand seven hundred and twenty-four (1724) students were assigned to secondary schools throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. This included eight hundred and ninety-four (894) males and eight hundred and thirty (830) females. Therefore, one hundred and eighty-nine (189) students were retained at the primary school; forty-three (43) females and one hundred and forty-six (146) males.
These students, once within the CPEA eligibility age will have another opportunity to write the Assessment in 2018. On the other hand, those who have passed the age will write the National School Leaving Examination in 2018.
The highest score attained in the assessment was 491 out of a maximum possible score of 500. The lowest score obtained was 117. The national mean was 69.46 and the standard deviation 14.64. This reflects an increase of 3.26 when compared to 2016’s and 2015’s 66.2 and 66.23, respectively. Ninety point one percent (90.1%) of the CPEA candidates writing the assessment procured fifty percent or above in the assessment. In 2016, eightyeight point one three percent (88.13%) of the candidates achieved the same level.
