Wednesday 19th October, 2016-St. George’s-
Eagles Super Strikers have emerged top of the table in the GFA North-Western Conference League, qualifying them to go into the Big 8 Conference quarterfinals. Eagles amassed 22 points from 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.
Also qualifying is another St. Patrick’s outfit North Stars, coming in second on the table. They collected 18 points from 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. It must be noted however, that qualification has two dimensions this year. Other than points, qualifying teams must ensure that they have paid their season registration fee in full to move on in the competition.
Round two of the Conference League will be played in a play-off format and will comprise the winners and runners up of each Conference on completion of Round one (Big 8). This round will comprise a two way quarterfinals, two-way semi-finals and a one-way third place and Grand Final.
The first (1st) and second (2nd) placed team overall in the Conference League will be automatically promoted to the Premier League. The teams placing 3rd and 4th will enter a play-off with teams placed seventh (7th) and eight (8th) in the Premier League for promotion / relegation.
